HMEA’s Autism Resource Central of Central Massachusetts has received $15,000 from Digital Federal Credit Union at the suggestion of the bank’s employees to fund the mission of the center.
The funds donated by Digital Federal Credit Union will be used to fund Family Fun Activities such as movies, bowling, sporting events, dinner dances, camp during the summer among others. During school vacation weeks in December, February and April the center offers events to help fill the unstructured days that vacations create.
“This donation from DCU will help us offer a variety of fun activities for children on the spectrum and their siblings this winter.” Said Susan Loring, the center Director. “Offering an autism friendly movie showing at the cinemas gives families a judgement free zone where some of the sound effects are reduced for it to be a comfortable environment for those on the spectrum.” Mrs. Loring said.
In 2010, DCU established a mission of “DCU Nation is half a million strong.” Today, DCU has reached 500,000 in member, or customer, accounts held at the credit union. To celebrate this achievement, DCU and its employees shared the success with its communities by donating to certain charitable organizations that make a difference in the communities the bank serves. DCU’s employees selected HMEA’s Autism Resource Central as an organization that makes a difference to individuals in the community. We are honored and pleased to have been selected .
HMEA’s Autism Resource Central is accepting donations to fund more family fun activities, workshops, clinics for children, adults and families affected by the Autism Spectrum Disorder.
