What is the Autism Medicaid Waiver?

It is a program that provides intensive community and home based services to children with autism. Each child selected for the program will receive up to $25,000/year of services and supports.

Who Should Apply?

Parents who:

  • Have children on the autism spectrum 0-8 years old-program ends when a child turns 9

  • Think intensive services are needed to support their child with autism spectrum disorder in the home and community (applied behavioral analysis, floor-time, communication and social skills development)

  • Are on MassHealth (MassHealth recipients must meet financial eligibility to qualify; those on CommonHealth are not in an eligible category of assistance for this program)

  • Think they might be eligible for MassHealth

Key Information for Application Process:

Applications for the Autism Waiver Program must have a postmark date no earlier than April 2, 2012 and no later than April 14, 2012.


Applications with postmarks before April 2nd or after April 14 will be discarded.

Even if you applied during the previous Open Enrollment in October 2010, you must apply again during this open enrollment period. 

One application per child.  If you have more than one child who may be eligible, each child needs their own application.

No children over age 9 are eligible.
