The weather was beautiful, the streamlined day made for a more cohesive event, the change of day made little difference to the faithful. Our band Sudden Relic and DJ Greg kept the mood festive and about 2,000 people participated in the 2016 5k Run & Walk.
Autism Behavioral Services became our Registration Pavilion Sponsor and streamlined processes at registration eliminated any bottlenecks. Behavioral Concepts Inc returned as our Kids Corner Pavilion Sponsor. The Staff at BCI went above and beyond to help expand the activities available for the kids at our event. It just gets better every year! Thank You Thank you!
HMEA sponsored our Food Court where Sir Loin Catering churned out lunch for the masses, donations from Wegmans, Pepsi & Table Talk Pies rounded out the menu as well as B Good and “Harvey” who served smoothies to the walkers and runners.
All our day of event sponsors either brought activities for the kids ranging from Crowns to decorate to Games of chance, bubbles, balloons and give aways. The chance that parents had to chat about services our sponsors provide was invaluable.
As you can imagine we are still sorting out all the donations and equipment and will be sending out formal thank you notes and acknowledgements of donations in the next few weeks. It will take a while to sort out what our final tally of dollars raised will be, but Wanja is working non stop to be able to share that. For now let us thank the amazing group of people who volunteered on our 5K & Walk Committees and gave up hours of their time to plan and run the day. As amazing as the staff at the Center is, this event has grown beyond what 8 people can coordinate.
Thank You, Julie & Michael Martin, and Fred Clark for your energy, time, expertise and talent. And to our walk committee led by Kristen Saad, we owe huge debt of gratitude. Tina D’ASti, we are in awe of your quiet competence and ability to be flexible and think on your feet for over 8 hours, not to mention your energy in securing raffle prizes! We had a small army of day of event volunteers who were indispensable as well.
Thanks to Performers, Ryan Gallagher who sang the national antem to start the Run, while Jagger Lavely kicked off the walk with his rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. Dancers from Shining Stars Dance Studio entertained the collective audience between sets by the band and The SWOON BOOTH was one of the busiest spots on the field! Thank You Andy Pierce! Kelly DeLeo worked for months lending her talents to promote the event of social media and was on hand to help all day where ever she was needed. DCU supported the walk by sending the DCU van which allows us to gather funds and deposit on site in a secure manner. We are appreciative of their ongoing and unfailing support of our mission.
Last a HUGE Thanks to our Sponsors, without you we would not be able to pull this off year after year . We are so grateful for your support and having you all as neighbors in our village !
