Autism Activities Coordinator
Cid started working at the Center in February 2010. Before coming on board, Cid volunteered for several years at the walk and family activities. Cid was able to enjoy summer camp with many Center families as the “boating lady” (always in charge of the waterfront and kayaks!).
Cid serves the Center’s registrar for family activities and educational programs. She plans our Summer Family Fun Days programs and coordinates with Camp Starfish to provide our Camp Havvago program. She works collaboratively with Wanja Kiraguri to plan and run Center events. She orders all supplies, tracks purchases and expenditures, and works with HMEA accounting to see that consultants are paid. She also facilitates the monthly Moms and Tots group.
Cid is unlike any other activity coordinator . Cid’s duties include encouraging young children with autism to believe in themselves and their capabilities, soothing rattled parents when she empowers their children to take a risk and try a new activity. Her interaction style is perfect as she meets kids where they are at and intuitively finds a way to connect and engage children in playful interactions, expanding their social sphere by including others and supporting the kids ( and adults) we serve to achieve their personal best! More a therapist than an activities coordinator , Cid is a like Peter Pan or the Pied Piper , if you’re looking for Cid in a crowd, look down, chances are she is on the ground with kids! She’s also meticulous with details and paperwork, but her value lies in her unique approach to kids!
