Hello! My name is Reginald Aaron Williams. I am 26 years old, an alumni of Quinsigamond Community College with a certificate in Human Services, and I am a high functional autistic with a passion to help other families get what they want and need for their children.
I serve as a self advocate on the HMEA’s Advisory Board because I believe there is so many families who are at a crossroads feeling alone, lost, helpless, shut out, and basically afraid to reach out. I believe that one resource, one connection, or one person can make a huge and powerful difference to others and themselves.
I’ve recently learned that one act of kindness can create an endless ripple of happiness that comes back to you. I know because I’ve inspired so many other families by just showing them my true colors and being an autistic young adult I can show others how to live life with autism.
My future goal is to be a motivational speaker for anybody that’s willing to listen and tell them that even if you were diagnosed with autism at a young age; that doesn’t make you different at all. Also I want to end the stereotype that once you’ve become an adult, you’ll stop being autistic when in reality once you have autism you have it for life.
Here’s how I change everyone’s point of view on autism by sharing from my own life.
